The Magic Stick Box
Drawn With Love
When a simple box turns bedtime into pure wonder
A fussy baby. A father at his wits’ end.
Then a box of colored sticks changes everything.
With each drawing, something new comes alive! A dinosaur stomps, an airplane loops, a chick pecks at toes, and even sheep — ready to be counted at bedtime. It’s playful, imaginative, and at its heart, a story about the love between a parent and child.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Meet
Michael
I grew up in small-town Ohio, the youngest of three, often left to my own imagination. Immersed in make believe a lot of the time I later found myself on many paths—from building trades and engineering to earning a medical degree. But no matter where life took me, music and writing stayed constant.
I moved to Sydney in 2009 with my wife. When our dream of having children didn’t work out the way we intended, I looked for another way to share all the energy I had saved for being a dad. That’s when I began writing children’s books.
I’ve always had an easy bond with kids, whether through silly word games or just making them laugh. Writing has become my way of leaving a legacy—stories that light up children’s faces and bring joy to parents, too. On my best days, I get to sit back and hear a child read one of my stories out loud. That moment makes all the work worthwhile.

What Our Customers Are Saying
“I’ve just finished reading The Magic Stick Box and it is just magical! The sweetest story written with love and warmth. I can’t wait to read it to my grandson. Thank you, Michael – you’ve created a beautiful book.”

I love The Magic Stick Box. This is an easy book to read and listen to. Sometimes as a parent, those days of knowing what to do when a child is distressed can be overwhelming. It’s a must read from me! It’s also great to read something from a male perspective. Now, I’m going to buy more for my extended family.”
– Therese P.
It’s a great concept, and the illustrations really compliment the text well. I love the ending where it becomes more about the memories than the art (and even if it did come to life!).
